Review: Beauty Kitchen by Heather Marianna Collagen Gel Lip Mask ★★★☆☆
It’s time for these puckers to receive some TLC since the last time I had a lip treatment was a month ago. This lip mask came in an Ipsy Mskerade set and is not widely sold, however you can hop over to the Beauty Kitchen website and purchase a Perfect Pout set which includes 2 lip masks and a lip balm. The Beauty Kitchen is created by Heather Marianna and it’s a show that teaches women how to create beauty products using ingredients that can be found in the kitchen.
Lip masks are trending lately and I’m guessing it’s mostly related to Kylie Jenner’s lip goals. This lip mask has a gel material and is soaked in serum which contains in glycerin and hyaluronic acid serum for hydration. Hip hip hurray for the ingredient list is pretty short!
This is the sad state of my lips. They are dry, chapped and full of fine lines. But before we get into slapping the mask on, we need to prep the skin byusing a lip scrub. My favorite is ELF’s Lip Exfoliator in Mint Maniac.
This is just $3 on ELF’s website and it lasts me about 10-15 sessions. It’s is packaged into a lipstick style for ease of application. Do not twist the bullet up too much and be gentle with scrubbing or you’ll end up wasting product with bloody lips.
Rub this on the lips small circular motions and sugar granules will start to appear. These granules will wear off dead skin cells and give a sugary sweet taste. Repeat 5 times each for both lips. The warmth on the skin will break down the product and you’ll end up with this.
Wipe off the mixture with a damp tissue or cotton pad.
My lips are plump, soft, pink and has a bee stung effect. This is a great time to slap on the lip mask.
Boo! There is a slit in the middle so the gel mask fits the curvature of lips and still allow for sipping of a beverage through a straw if you desire. It was pretty easy to get it on. I left this on for the recommended 10 minutes. There is a very light almost undetectable fruity fragrance.
Ahhh, this feels great! Upon removing the lip mask, there is a very thin layer of essence left and so I patted it in. Out of curiosity, I licked the my lips and oh heck no, it does not taste as great as it smells. Finish off with your favorite lip balm to seal in all that goodness. Here is a side by side for comparison.
These are still some fine lines but I’ll have to submit to fate for it is how my lip naturally are. However, my lips are plump, full, pink, hydrated and smooth in just 15 minutes! The entire process was a such a treat so spa-like. I will definitely repurchase and would most likely use it before I put on a liquid lipstick, which can be very unforgiving to unconditioned lips.
