Before masking

I can finally exfoliate! After about 3 months of being very careful with my skin, the contact dermatitis has 98% subsided. I’ve cleansed, toned and exfoliated prior to slapping the sheet mask on my face. Read about my usual skin prep routine here.

Two things that caught me by surprise: Firstly, essence was watery and did not smell like roses, just powdery old ladies; secondly, the material is thin af, not like Annie’s Way silk masks but close, probably one of the thinnest among all the MBD sheet masks I’ve tried.

The adherence is great, though I think the eye and mouth holes could be bigger. MBD also seemed to have done away with extra cuts on the edges of mask sheets with their newer versions, I think those are very helpful for achieving a good fit for different face shapes. I had this on for about 30 minutes and my forehead area was starting to dry out.

Please pardon the blurriness of this picture, I must have gotten fingerprints on the lens without realizing it.

The effect I got wasn’t impressive. Yes my skin was hydrated, soothed and less red, but that’s about it. My PIH is still the same color, skin is not brightened, pores are not reduced, it even dried down to a tacky finish. not good for summer.

Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.

With more and more affordable masks achieving HG status these days, like the 0.2mm Air Therapy Damask Rose Sheet Mask from Etude House, I was expecting more out of this considering how much of a fan I am of MBD’s sheet masks.

Go be beautiful!
