Review: Soo Ae Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask Aqua ★★★☆☆
The holographic packaging is just so shiny and mesmerizing 😯 This is a nourishing sheet mask made with natural pulp that is infused with a gel-essence specially formulated with a bio polymer to improve suppleness by increasing the hydration locking abilities of the active and moisturizing ingredients. This claims to hydrate and nourish.
Notable ingredients: donkey milk (4th ingredient) , honey extract, ceramide, collagen, shea butter, and a bunch of botanical extracts like pear, licorice, sesame, just to name a few. Donkey Milk, often referred to as “White Gold”, has historically been revered and included in skin care by women known for their rigorous beauty regimens, such as Cleopatra. Donkey Milk has a high content level of Omega 6, which replenishes skin with moisture while boosting its ability to prevent moisture loss. Sensitive skin warning: fatty alcohol and carbomer are present.
My skin is feeling very dry and mildly irritated today. I’ve already cleansed, toned and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I detected a strong perfumey scent which lingered during and after the masking session. The sheet mask material was very thin and soft and covered in clear gel essence. Not exactly the hydrogel you’re a thinking of, this is more like a cross between a hydrogel and a regular sheet mask.
Fit and adherence were great! But it did tingle throughout the entire 25 mins of wear. The leftover essence took awhile to dry down, and it dried down slightly sticky.
My skin looked even and dewy and felt very hydrated. But my sensitive areas, cheek and forehead, turned slightly red from the tingling. It wasn’t bad and went away the next day.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I will not be repurchasing because of sensitivity issues, but due to the undeniable intense hydration, I’d still recommend this to drier, non-sensitive skin types for nighttime masking.
