I had no idea Daiso, a Japanese dollar store, carries sheet masks now! This was sent to me by a friend in Malaysia, I couldn’t find it in any of the Daiso stores in San Francisco. I love the packaging! The different varieties have different traditional patterns. The pouch has a matte texture and made of very thin foil material. The overall presentation just screams traditional.
This variant contains Matcha (green tea) extract as its main ingredient to hydrate and calm skin. Made from 100% cotton, this Daiso Rich Moist Essence Mask Series has 6 types; Matcha, Horse Oil, Camellia Oil, Sakura, Pearl Barley & Black Pearl. All of them seem to have the same use, just different kind of extracts.
My skin is feeling pretty good today, just a little redness. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
The 100% Japanese natural cotton sheet was super thick and soaked in 30g of watery, scentless essence.
Fit was okay, there were plenty of slits. Looks like my top lip was getting nourished as well. Eye flaps are always a bonus in my book. It was also too wide on the sides so I folded the extras frontwards to avoid nourishing my scalp. Bigger sheets are always better than smaller sheets to me. Adherence was meh due to how thick the sheet was. The thick sheet also made my skin feel kinda warm. Just a couple mins and air bubbles started forming. I also had a goatee by the 30 min mark.
Essence absorbed quickly and left and silky finish. My skin felt hydrated and plump. There was slight brightening but my redness was completely gone. My popped zits were completely calmed. I topped it off with a light moisturizer to seal everything in. However, a couple hours later, my redness returned. Not in blotches but an even, light pink blush, it’s kinda pretty.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I’d say this is pretty great for a Dasio mask! Can’t wait to try out the other varieties!
