Review: Skin Factory Volcanic Ash Black 3D Mask ★★★☆☆
I’m super excited to be trying a 3D mask for the very first time, pray hard it fits. This is meant for oily/combo skin and claims to clean pores and reduce inflammation for improved healing. There is 30ml of essence in this pack, compared to the usual 23ml.
My skin is experiencing some sensitivity and sporting a constellation of acne around my upper cheeks today. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I detected a strong chemical/paint scent. The material felt very thick and stiff. Essence was clear and watery. There was enough essence left in the packaging for a dry sheet pellet.
Fit was bad, I got huge air pockets on my forehead and around my nose. Adherence was bad too, I had to press it down a bunch of times. Fold lines also refuse to be flattened down. Right away I felt a warming sensation on my skin, it lasted about 10 mins. I had this on for a total of 30 mins.
Folded in half
Instead of a flat piece of material, 3D masks are 2 pieces of materials sewn together in the middle so when it’s open it forms a “cave” for your face.
Essence absorbed easily and dried down matte. My skin felt very smooth and hydrated, and looked bright and even. My active pimples turned from red to brown. However, there were black bits left on my skin, which I suspect came from the sheet. Pore size remain unchanged.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
Despite the bad fit, I’m still happy with the astringent effect of this mask. Will repurchase for the salicylic acid since it’s the only pore caring acid that doesn’t give me dermatitis. Check out more Skin Factory reviews here.
