My Beauty Diary Mexico Cactus Mask

Review: My Beauty Diary Mexico Cactus Mask ★★★★★

It’s been awhile since I’ve used an MBD mask. I’ve been relentlessly hoarding this because (spoiler alert) it’s so freaking good!

This mask aims to emulate how cacti in extremely severe environmental conditions are able to retain and seal water content in their leaves to form a hydration barrier, boost moisture retention, soften skin, and repair skin. Star ingredients are cactus flower essence which is enriched with natural nutrients to form a hydrated protection shield on the skin surface; date essence to boost moisture retention in skin and cells as well as soften skin texture for a smooth, radiant and plump look; calendula officinalis essence, and aloe essence.

I love how tiny these MBD packets are, they are the size of my palm and makes storage so much easier.

Before masking

My skin is feeling pretty good today just some redness and a few post acne marks that need fading. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.

Material

Out of the packet, I caught a whiff of the classic MBD sheet mask scent. Essence was clear and drippy. Mask sheet felt like a thin wet notebook paper.

During masking

Fit was on the small side, it sits on my face instead of cupping it. Adherence was alright. The mask being super wet helped but it became detached the moment I made any facial expressions, no matter how small. There was no scent while I had this mask on for the entire 25 mins. The essence was so drippy that my lips were covered and I had to wipe it off a number of times to avoid tasting it.

I’m very surprised to see zero slits on this MBD mask. In the past, their masks had slits all over the place, which really helped to get a good fit, regardless of the material used.

After masking

There were lots of essence to pat in, which felt like I massaging in a gel moisturizer. Absorption wasn’t great at first and all of a sudden, there was a tacky finish. My skin felt very soft, smooth, and deeply hydrated. Unlike other masks that gave me similar hydration levels, this did not leave a hydrating film on my skin. Skin looked brighter, more radiant, even toned, and fine lines were plumped. Finish was tacky at first but quickly dried down to a comfortable silky finish.

I think this is suitable for all skin types! So glad I bought a box of it! Check out more reviews on My Beauty Diary masks here.
