Review: Lovemore The Premium Black Sheet Mask Deep Moist ★★☆☆☆
I’ve never seen a black mask from Lovemore, very intrigued to see how this performs. This mask claims to hydrate, provide oil control, refresh, purify, repair, and brighten skin. Notable ingredients are: charcoal powder, pseudoalteromonas ferment extract, hyaluronic acid, rose flower water, and hydrolyzed pearl.
Pseudoalteromonas ferment extract is a strain of bacteria isolated from mud found on King George Island in Antarctica. According to Dermaxime.com, it is a peptide that is classified as a protein derivative, and contains the following three amino acid residues: glycine, histidine and lysine.
My skin is a little dry today. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I detected a strong perfumey scent. There was 30 ml of essence in the packet, more than the usual 23ml. It felt watery but not drippy. The pure cotton mask was drenched in essence and was a little hard to unfold due to the multitudes of deep cuts. Becareful not the tear it. It had a medium thickness, felt soft, and was completely opaque.
Fit was alright. It was a little too wide for me, almost touching my ear holes. I think the size of the eye holes are larger than usual, which I prefer. Adherence felt great! I couldn’t accurately tell if there were any air bubbles under the sheet due to the 100% opacity of the sheet. I had this on for 30 min, it was stinging a little in the first 10 mins.
There were lots of essence left to pat in but it absorbed/evaporated very quickly. There were some tiny black lint on my skin but it was easy to pick off, no biggie. Finish was matte and non-sticky. The parts of my face that were stinging before now felt numb. My skin felt nicely hydrated, but not bouncy. I saw the most improvement in brightening. However, my skin did feel a little bumpy. Upon closer inspection, I noticed tiny cc’s on my skin. Not sure if the purification ability of the mask drew out my deep cc’s, or if I was reacting to an ingredient.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I think this is just an okay mask on my skin type. Check out more Lovemore reviews here.
