Mud/clay masks that come in sheets always have a special place in my heart. They are convenient, mess-free, and easy to use.
My skin is extremely congested from skipping exfoliation for the past week while I was on vacation. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I caught a strong soapy fragrance. The mud mask came in 2 pieces for the top and bottom of the face. The sheets were sandwiched between 2 plastic backings to keep them in shape and prevent them from sticking onto each other. Like all mud/clay sheet masks, the packet is dry, no essence was present. Instead, the soft and thin sheets were generously coated in creamy pink mud on both sides.
I removed one of the plastic backings, placed the top half on my face, then removed the second plastic backing. This method really helped with the application and preventing such soft sheets from sticking onto itself.
Fit was great! Being in 2 pieces helped with the fit and it allowed room for adjustment. The holes were also perfectly aligned to my features. The sheets were just slightly too wide on my face shape, which meant they were most likely to fir most face shapes.
Adherence was amazing due to the nature of the material. Natural fibers were used and the pink mud itself was pretty tacky. No amount of contorting my features was able to detach this mask.
The instructions called for a masking duration of 40-50 mins. While it was drying, I did not feel any pulling or stretching though the surface of the mask got drier and stiffer. To prevent it from sucking all the moisture out of my skin, I misted periodically so it did not dry out completely. I took the mask off after 40 mins.
The removal process was a literal pain. It was completely stuck to my skin like a pore strip would. I had no choice but to rip it away from my skin, causing alot of pulling and tugging. The sheet came away in one piece and looked like a 3D masquerade mask. After which I rinsed my face to remove the leftover pink mud and patted dry.
My skin looked very bright, but also very wrinkly. PIH, PIE and redness were completely gone, my skin looked devoid of color. Finish was matte and non-tacky. However, my skin did not feel dry nor stretchy at all. It felt like I had normal skin. My pores also looked minuscule which made the texture of my skin looked very even and smooth. Upon touching my skin, I realized that it felt plump, soft, and and very smooth. I followed up with my normal skincare routine.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
This is another winning mud/clay mask! I highly recommend this for weekly usage for pore upkeep. The only downside is the tough removal. Check out more So Natural reviews here.
