Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner is a non-irritating toner that rejuvenates and restores hydration for tired skin. It balances the skin’s pH level and improves the effectiveness of the entire skin regime. With various plant extracts and soothing ingredients blended together, Klairs toner is calming, non-irritating, and hydrating for all skin, even for the most sensitive. Prescribed with an upgraded moisturizer, it rapidly absorbs into the skin while prolonging hydration by more than 20% than conventional toners with hyaluronic acid and beta-glucan.
I’ve used up a bottle of version 1, Klairs Supple Preparation Toner, which contains the exact same ingredients as version 2 with a small addition of essential oils like:
Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil
Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil
Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil
Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil
Cananga Odorata Flower Oil
These give the toner a subtle soothing scent. Since I’m not allergic to essential oils, as some people can be, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s ultra-hydrating and I love using it as a toner mask when my skin flares up from a product. It’s also perfect for the 7-skin method on my dehydrated skin which needs a boost of water-based hydration. I’m not a fan of scented skincare products but the scent of this is so low-key I barely noticed it.
180 ml/ 6.08 fl oz of product came in a see-through plastic bottle with a silver screw-on cap. I love the color combination of purple and silver, it looks so sleek and simple to me. Both toners have the exact shape and size. But due to the addition of essential oils in version 1, it has to be contained in a dark bottle to minimize the breakdown of ingredients from the light. Both toners come in a simple brown box.
One thing I like about this see-through bottle is the ability to tell how much I’ve used and prepare for a restock so I’ll never run out.
Just like version 1, the toner dispenses through a pin hole. One drop dispenses with one shake of the bottle. Demo below:
The 5 drops above is how much I normally use. Since the body of the bottle is sturdy and not squeezable, I kinda wish it comes with a pump instead. I’m a lazy ass and shaking takes up more my my energy than pumping.
While version 1 gave off a subtle lavender essential oil blend scent, version 2 gives off a medicinal scent that reminds me of my prescription cortisol or anti-rash cream. Even though the toner is labelled as “unscented”, it does not mean that it will smell like nothing. It just means that no fragrance is added to manipulate the natural scent of the product. The scent of this toner dissipates very quickly though.
Unlike my favorite Cosrx Centella Alcohol-Free Toner which has the consistency of water, this toner has a slightly thicker, watery-gel consistency. It is still thinner than version 1 and absorbs faster.
Ever since I found out that my skin is prone to dehydration, I’ve really been enjoying the 7-skin method, where 7 layers of toners are patted into the skin to replenish hydration without being emollient. However, due to time constraints, I stop at the 3rd layer. This toner is perfect as a 2nd toner, right after a watery toner. It has a comforting texture and my skin felt an instant relief when I pat this in. It absorbs easily and I’m able to go on to the 3rd layer of toner without much waiting. My skin benefited from feeling plump and soft from this toner.
I personally prefer this over the original version 1. It absorbs faster and does not contain essential oils which my skin may react to when the occasional dermatitis strikes. Check out more Klairs reviews here.
