Hyggee All-in-one Tightening & Firming Mask claims to tighten, firm, and moisturize skin. “Hyggee” made it to Oxford Dictionary’s list of word of the year 2016. It is a Danish term defined as “a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.” Pronounced “hoo-guh,” the word is said to have no direct translation in English, though “cozy” comes close. I personally think it’s a very apt name for a skincare brand because I always associate sheet masking and slapping on skincare products as a form relaxation.

My skin is feeling dry and slightly irritated and congested. I’ve cleansed, exfoliated, and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I detected a light and clean fragrance. The tencel elastic material is made from eucalyptus trees and felt thick yet soft and smooth. It had a textured embossing and did not come with a backing. 45 g of essence had a watery-gel consistency. There wasn’t any left in the packet once I removed the sheet mask.
This was a large sheet mask that includes double ear loops and a neck patch. There was so much excess on the sides that I had to fold it down to avoid getting essence on my hair. The stretchable material made it really easy to hook the ear loops over my ears. I was expecting a huge nose tent from stretching the sheet mask side ways to secure it over my ears, but there wasn’t any.
It did not feel uncomfortable, the amount of tightness was just nice. Adherence was great thanks to the double ear loops. If this were a regularly shaped sheet mask, I wouldn’t expect it to stay on this well. I had this on for 30 mins, it was still a little damp.
There were lots of essence left to pat in. It took quite awhile for it to dry down to a dewy and tacky finish.
My skin felt very hydrated and moisturized. It would feel too heavy for day time, so I would recommend this for night use. This is also not suitable for oily skin types.
I also noticed slight calming and brightening effects. However, I did not see any tightening nor firming effects.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
On my skin, this is a pretty basic sheet mask with great hydration. At this price point, I don’t think this is worth repurchasing as I’m able to achieve the same effects with a hydrating skincare regime or other cheaper sheet masks. However, the tightening and firming effects might be noticeable with continued use as, unlike hydration and brightening, it takes time to build skin elasticity.
