23 Years Old Home Dermaseal Mask

Review: 23 Years Old Home Dermaseal Mask ★★★★☆

23 Years Old is a brand that has never let me down, despite their excessive use of packaging. They’re most famous for their mouthless masks.

23 Years Old Home Dermaseal Mask helps to hydrate, calm, and restore a healthy skin barrier. It is targeted at sensitive skin that is prone to environmental damage.

Key ingredients:

  • panthenol – calms and soothes skin
  • licorice extract – brightens and calms skin
  • ginger root extract – contains around 40 antioxidant properties that prevent free radical damage and protect against aging

Before masking

My skin is feeling dry and dehydrated. There are also a couple of pimples along my jawline and outer cheek that are red, sensitive, and sore to the touch. I’ve cleansed, exfoliated, and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.

Out of the packet, I caught a faint chemical/plastic scent. It wasn’t too bad. Essence was clear, runny, and in abundance. I slathered the leftovers all over my body.

The material felt very unique! It’s thin, slightly stretchy and reminded me of wet packaging tissue. Held together by a thick fabric backing, this unique material is actually egg membrane!

The hydrolyzed egg membrane works to treat the skin, while also allowing the skin pores to absorb all the nutrients and provide maximum moisture retention.

During masking

Fit was average. It was a small sheet so it only covered the inner perimeters of my face. The holes were too small for my features. Since the edges ran along the inner perimeter of my face, this might be too small for some with wider facial structures.

Adherence was great! So great that it kinda made application challenging. The moment the material touched my skin, it clung on for its dear life and refused to let go. Adjusting for fit or smoothing out air bubbles took me longer than usual. Otherwise, it stayed put throughout the entire masking session. One way to get around that is to position the mask as best as possible on the face before the actual application.

I had this on for 20 mins, it was starting to dry out. There was a tightening sensation on my face like I was being face-grabbed by a baby xenomorph.

After masking

The leftover essence patted in with ease. My skin felt deeply hydrated. But without a moisturizing film on top, I could feel my dehydration-prone skin losing water quickly. A moisturizer was required to seal everything in. Finish was non-tacky and looked matte.

I also noticed my skin looking substantially calmer and feeling soft and supple. Texture was smooth as pores size have been reduced due to the skin plumping effects.

Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.

This is an amazing mask for all skin types, especially right before an important event. My skin looked so good, I could totally head out with just dabs of concealer on my pimples. It gives a naturally healthy skin look, as if you’re born with good skin. The only thing lacking is the moisturization, which can easily be addressed with a moisturizer. This is yet another thumbs up for 23 Years Old!
