Review: Amore Pacific Vintage Single Extract Essence ★★★★.☆
Amore Pacific Vintage Single Extract Essence is an anti-aging essence that rejuvenates the appearance of skin’s clarity, tone, and texture. This anti-aging essence delivers the antioxidant power of Single Extract Formula™. Created using the patented Full Body Extraction™, it promotes prebiotics to prevent further signs of skin aging. Vintage Tea Leaf™, containing green tea’s precious substance catechin, works to improve the appearance of skin’s clarity, texture, firmness, and elasticity.
It carefully utilizes green tea cultivated from the Dolsongi Green Tea Garden; the first of the three green tea gardens that Amore Pacific owns and operates on Jeju Island off the South Coast of Korea. The green tea leaves are handpicked and naturally fermented in optimal conditions for 50 days. These fermented leaves are then transferred by tea masters and placed into “onggi’s”, traditional Korean earthware band buried in the earth, to age naturally for another 50 days. After 100 days of waiting and a 24-hours slow extraction process, Amore Pacific’s Vintage Single Extract Essence is perfected.
Before balking at the $145 price tag, let’s take a look at how the simple ingredients list is and think about the amount of effort that was put into creating this product. I’m willing to fork out my own money for a simple yet elegantly-formulated skincare product.
Despite ranking 4th in the ingredients list, I’m guessing the concentration of green tea leaf extract must still be pretty high just by looking at the color of the essence. My skin responds very positively so yay me! Water is in almost every skincare product; propanediol and glycerin are humectants and skin hydrators; 1,2-hexanediol and ethylhexylglycerin are natural preservatives. These ingredients are suitable for even the most sensitive skin.
120 ml of product came in a frosted glass bottle with a plastic screw-on cap. Along with the minimal white text and heavy bottle, the entire presentation just screams elegant and luxurious.
The essence is dispensed through a pinhole by tipping it over an open palm. A single tip dispenses about 3-4 drops of product, which is great for wastage prevention.
In my 2 weeks of testing, I’ve used this in both my morning and evening skincare routines:
morning: watery toner -> essence
evening: acid -> watery toner -> essence
I tip the bottle over about 2-3 times, giving me a total of about 6-10 drops each use. Tapping both palms together to coat it in essence, I then lightly tap the essence into my skin. Even then, I’d barely made the dent in the bottle.
The watery essence sports a rich dark brown color and is pretty much scentless. I prefer my skincare products scentless so this is a huge thumbs up from me. Despite its watery consistency, it gives a pretty decent hydration, like a thick toner. It absorbs moderately quickly, giving my skin an immediate velvety softness.
As with all antioxidant-based products, results are usually observed long-term. It’s meant to maintain and boost skin health and resilience so it is less susceptible to aging culprits like free radicals in pollution, UV damage, and gravity.
Even though there is no dramatic results after 2 weeks, I did notice my skin giving off a natural, non-greasy, glow, like all healthy skin should. That being said, I don’t think everyone should rush out and get this, especially at such a price tag. Incorporate this product into your skincare once you’ve understood your skin’s needs and have budget for it.
