Neogen Canadian Clay Pore Cleanser is an innovative clay mask that transforms into a foam cleanser to remove makeup, excess sebum, and impurities from the skin and pores. This blend of carbonated water, kaolin clay and centella asiatica extract instantly eliminates excess sebum, blackheads, makeup, and dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and inside pores. It leaves skin feeling clean and refreshed. Effective for oily and combination skin types, because it draws out sebum and other impurities while nourishing the skin with botanical extracts.
My skin is feeling dehydrated and looking slightly flushed. It has also been 2 weeks since I’ve done a pore care routine, clogs and blackheads are a plenty. I’ve cleansed, exfoliated, and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Upon opening the outer lid, I was greeted with an inner seal. I really appreciate this seal as I’m assured that this product is fresh and uncontaminated.
I was a surprised to find a piece of thin cotton pad skewdly positioned atop the clay product. At first glace I thought it was mould, till sniffed and touched it.
Sporting a mint green color, the clay mask had a light herbal scent. It has a creamy smooth texture which made it very spreadable.
How to use:
Apply a thick layer to dry skin.
Gently massage product in. You’ll see the product turn from a clay into a foam.
Wash off with lukewarm water.
Use this once or twice weekly in place of your usual cleanser. It can also be used as a gentle exfoliator.
Fine bubbles started forming almost immediately upon application. I could hear faint fizzing noises and felt a slight ticklish sensation. After 5 mins, my face was covered in a blanket of fine bubbles that looked like a thin layer of sponge. I decided to let it sit for another 5 mins before gently massaging the mask into my skin with wet hands. After which, I splashed it with water to begin the rinsing process. There was a soapy feeling but it wasn’t stubborn to rinse off.
The greatest improvement I saw was to the brightness of my skin tone. The next greatest improvement I saw was to the cleanliness of my pores. My pores not only looked cleaner, they seemed to also have reduced in size, giving rise to a smoother looking skin texture. I appreciate the lack of additional redness to my skin, which usually accompanies a clay masking session. There was a slight drying sensation right after toweling off. I quickly followed up with a hydrating routine to prevent my dehydration-prone skin from tightening up.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I love how effective yet gentle this clay mask is. I’ve not tried using this over makeup as a cleanser because I’m a sucker for double cleansing. But as a clay mask, I was mighty impressed and will continue to use this twice weekly to maintain the upkeep of my pores. Check out more Neogen reviews here.
