Aqutop Save the World Fin Mask

Review: Aqutop Save the World Fin Mask ★★★☆☆

Aqutop Save the World Fin Mask  is a brightening and smoothing mask that aims to prep the skin for makeup. The unique thing about this sheet mask is its material. According to Aqutop, the fabric is made from seaweed taken from the giant sub-marine forests of the Arctic Ocean using water to remove impurities. It is an eco-friendly and functional fabric with excellent chemical resistance, durability, and anti-bacterial properties.

Before masking

My skin is feeling a tad oily due to the hotter weather and also looking a little dull from the sun exposure and reduction in the frequency of exfoliation. I’ve cleansed, exfoliated, and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.

Out of the packet, I caught a strong departmental store fragrance. Essence was clear and had a watery-gel consistency.

The sheet mask material had a medium thickness and medium softness. It came with a mesh backing that reminded me of period pads. The weave pattern on the fabric also resembled a bandage. The overall look and feel of this seaweed sheet mask resembled that of tencel.

During masking

Fit was great! The holes were of the appropriate size and were right where I want them to be. There were also multiple slits to help with the fit. There was some excess material around the chin area which I was able to tuck in without needing to cut more slits.

Adherence was just average. The sides of the sheet mask were lifted and fold lines refused to stay flat.

I had the mask on for 20 mins, it was starting to dry out, especially on my forehead.

After masking

My skin felt mildly hydrated and moisturized. Finish was slightly tacky and looked semi-matte. On it’s own, the amount of hydration was sufficient for combo skin in the day. However, it might require a moisturizer on top of it at night. Oily skin will enjoy this for night masking. Dry skin might find it insufficient.

Visually, there was only a slight improvement to the brightness and calmness of my skin. My skin also looked slightly plumper.

Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.

Marketed as a pre-makeup sheet mask, I don’t think it is nearly as amazing as Biobelle’s Primer mask for it lacked the smoothing and brightening effects. It is an average mask overall. However, I’d give props to the cute packaging and concept!
