Medius SOS Water Balm Mask – Soothing

Review: Medius SOS Water Balm Mask – Soothing ★★★★☆

Medius SOS Water Balm Mask – Soothing is marketed as an emergency skin remedy that recovers dry and sensitive skin. This particular variant features centella asiatica extract for its excellent wound healing properties. Also known as ‘Tiger Herb’, this ingredient protects the skin from environmental stimulus and soothes the skin at the same time. The essence also contains low molecular weight hyaluronic acid and aloe extract for hydrating and further calming the skin.

Before masking

My skin is feeling normal to oily as the days get hotter. Due to hormonal fluctuations, my skin is experiencing an overall sensitivity and also sprouting a few red, itchy spots. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.

Material

Out of the packet, I detected a mild floral fragrance. The eucalyptus fiber sheet made of ultra-fine yarn technology felt rough and slightly stiff. It came with a mesh backing which really helped with the unfolding and application. It was unevenly coated with essence and did not feel as juicy as I expected it to.

Essence

The essence had a viscous milky consistency. Containing 30 ml of essence meant there was an abundance of essence, about 2 palms full. I slathered it all over my face prior to applying the mask. There was also enough for the rest of my body.

During masking

Fit was great! The sheet was large enough to cover my entire face. The holes were perfectly lined up with my features.

Adherence was above average. Fold lines stayed down for the most part, but some of them did pop up throughout the wear, which introduced air bubbles in.

I took this mask off after 30 mins, it was starting to dry out. The essence underneath the sheet mask was still intact.

After masking

There was lots of essence left to massage in. Absorption time took longer than a regular runny essence would. Finish was tacky, greasy, and dewy looking at first. But after waiting for 30 mins to an hour, it gradually dried down to a more comfortable finish.

My skin felt intensely hydrated and moisturized. I have combo skin and could get away without a moisturizer even in the winter. I don’t recommend it for oily skin but dry skin will really enjoy the high moisture levels that this mask provided.

My skin also felt baby soft, bouncy, and plump. I noticed that most of my redness is gone. The redness around the spots have also gone down in size. There was also a slight brightening effect.

Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.

I really do not like the finish at all. But I was able to quickly fix it with a toner-soaked cotton pad. I was very impressed with its calming effects and would totally stock this up for future skin issues. Check out more Medius reviews here.
