Review: Jayjun Drew Barrymore More Than Green-Tox Cleanse Mask ★★★★★
Jayjun Drew Barrymore More Than Green-Tox Cleanse Mask is, as the name suggests, a collaboration between Jayjun and Drew Barrymore. The Hollywood star discovered the world of Korean beauty when she made a trip to Korea to gather ideas to improve her line, Flower Beauty. This 3-step mask is fashioned after her favorite Jayjun Baby Pure Shining Mask.
This mask is one part of 3 masks in the series and it contains 3 different vegetable substance extracted from nature. Featuring ingredients high in natural vitamins and minerals including lemon, spinach, and broccoli extract, all to help give your skin the nutrients it needs, leading to clearer and smoother skin.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find the ingredients list for the cleanser and serum of this mask. Hence, the ingredients list provided below is that of the sheet mask only. Broccoli, spinach, and lemon extracts look to be pretty high up on the list so that’s a good sign.
Step 1 contains a bubble cleanser to thoroughly cleanse skin and remove impurities. Out of the packet, it gave off the typical cleanser fragrance with a moderate strength. The pearly white texture hinted that it could have a high pH.
The cleanser lathered into a dense, rich foam pretty easily. A simple test with litmus papers showed it to have a pH level of around 9. I typically avoid cleansers with a pH of 6 and above to protect my sensitive skin from losing it’s barrier. To strike a compromise, I used just a tiny bit of cleanser and shortened my cleansing duration. I believe this minimizes the damage that could arise from using such a harsh cleanser. At the rate at which I use this cleanser, a tiny packet could last me 4-5 uses.
After cleansing, my skin felt squeaky clean. I was expecting a tightening sensation to set in right away but it didn’t. There was still a tightening sensation but it set in very gradually. Before I felt uncomfortable, I already had toner on my skin.
My skin is feeling pretty normal today. Hormonal fluctuations have passed and the weather seems to be cooling down. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Step 2: More Than Green-Tox Serum
More Than Green-Tox Serum
Step 2 contains a serum to purify and refine skin texture. It came out as a thick gel and had a delicious citrus scent.
The serum spreads easily and absorbed really quickly into the skin. There was no tackiness nor residue. But it did leave a slight sheen on my skin. My skin also felt marginally softer and ready for the sheet mask. Based on my usage, there was enough product for 3 uses.
Out of the packet, the mask was giving off a fragrance that’s similar to that of the serum, except it’s lighter. Essence was clear and had a runny gel consistency.
The sheet mask material felt slightly thick and stiff. The weave pattern of the fabric reminded me of bandage gauze. It was drenched in essence but did not drip at all.
Fit was alright. The sheet was large enough to cover my entire face but I found the holes too small. The material was really disturbing my eyes, the cuts around the nose wasn’t deep enough so a giant nose tent formed, and my lips were covered my the mask. To address the problem, I took a scissors to the sheet and widened the nose and mouth holes.
This felt more comfortable and even aided with the adherence.
Adherence was also alright. There were lifts due to the stiffness of the fabric. Still, it clung on pretty well and did not budge at all.
I took the mask off after 30 mins, it was still damp.
The remaining essence absorbed with moderate speed. Finish was tacky and looked dewy at first. But it gradually dried down into a more balanced feel on my combo skin.
My skin felt intensely hydrated and moisturized. My combo skin didn’t require a moisturizer. Oily skin might find this too icky and greasy but it is still usable at night. Dry skin will really enjoy the intense moisturization.
Results were amazing all around. My skin looked almost flawless with smooth skin texture, radiant skin, and minimal redness. My skin also felt soft, bouncy, and supple.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I am really happy with the results of this mask, so much so that I’m willing to overlook the high pH cleanser, okay fit and adherence, and immediate tacky finish. It is also highly affordable for a multi-step mask and makes a good travel pack.
