Review: The Bbosong Lab AHA Peeling Pad & Essence Sheet Mask ★★★★.☆
The Bbosong Lab AHA Peeling Pad & Essence Sheet Mask is a 2-step mask that aims to exfoliate and nourish the skin to bring out its glow. It’s a 2-step mask that comes with an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) peeling pad and a sheet mask.
The peeling pad contains 35.4 mg of skin-friendly botanic AHA ingredient, glycolic acid, to gently exfoliate and maximize the absorption of ingredients from the sheet mask. Glycolic acid effectively removes the outermost layer of dead cells from the complexion, revealing brighter, fresher skin. Products that contain glycolic acid are used often to treat scarring, skin discoloration and signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles.
The sheet mask contains panthenol and camellia sinensis leaf extract to soothe, licorice root extract to brighten, and ceramide to moisturize the skin. It also contains ginger and grapefruit to provide anti-aging effects.
My skin is feeling pretty normal, just some redness but no sensitivity. I’ve cleansed my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Step 1 contains an AHA peeling pad. There was a faint alcohol scent. The pad was large and thick and soaked in clear, runny essence. It was textured on one side and smooth on the other.
There was a little pocket in the middle to fit 3 fingers.
I found the application process really easy considering how big the pad was. Despite having a texture, the pad felt very soft and gentle on my skin. My only complaint is that the edge of the pad is too thick, rendering it challenging to get around my nose and chin. I use a 5% mandelic acid toner every other day and was expecting this peeling pad to give me the same stinging sensation but there wasn’t any. It felt like I’d just swiped a toner-soaked cotton pad all over my face. The essence absorbed very quickly, leaving my skin slightly hydrated without any residue. Since the pad was still damp, I decided to swipe it all over my arms.
Step 2 contains a hydrating and nourishing sheet mask. I caught a stronger alcohol scent this time round. The sheet was very soft and thin and did not come with a backing. Beginners at masking might even find it a little challenging to unfold. The sheet was highly juicy and saturated with clear runny essence.
Fit was alright. The overall size was a tad small and only covered the inner perimeter of my face. There was a lack of cuts too. The holes were perfectly lined up with my features but they were too small.
Adherence was great thanks to the thin material. Being completely saturated with essence aided with the adherence too.
I took the mask off after 30 mins, it was still slightly damp.
It took time to massage and pat in the remaining essence. Finish was slightly tacky and looked dewy. The tackiness did gradually disappear throughout the day.
My skin felt intensely hydrated and nicely moisturized. It was the perfect amount of moisturization on my combo skin so a moisturizer was not needed. As such, this makes a good mask for combo to dry skin. Oily skin might want to avoid this as it could get too greasy.
My skin also looked very plump with smooth skin texture. I did not notice any brightening effects but my skin tone looked even and redness was completely gone.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
This is a great daily mask for the upcoming colder months. It is affordable, effective, and convenient. I personally love mask packs that come with a peeling pad as they make great travel companions too.
