Review: Jayjun Drew Barrymore More Than Seanol Wrinkle-Care Mask ★★★★☆
Jayjun Drew Barrymore More Than Seanol Wrinkle-Care Mask is, as the name suggests, a collaboration between Jayjun and Drew Barrymore. The Hollywood star discovered the world of Korean beauty when she made a trip to Korea to gather ideas to improve her line, Flower Beauty. This 3-step mask is fashioned after her favorite Jayjun Baby Pure Shining Mask.
This mask is one part of 3 masks in the series and it features Ecklonia Cava Extract, a type of antioxidant-rich brown algae, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve skin resilience. This variant is a 3-step mask with a serum in the first step, a sheet mask in the second step, and an eye cream in the third step.
My skin is feeling sensitive and even more prone to dehydration due to the sudden drop in temperatures. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Step 1 contains clear serum that aims to infuse the skin with adenosine to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve skin resilience.
The serum was scentless and spreads easily and absorbed fairly quickly into the skin. There was a slight tackiness and dewiness. My skin also felt hydrated softer and ready for the sheet mask. Based on my usage, there was enough product for 2 uses.
Step 2 consists of a sheet mask. Out of the packet, the mask was giving off a very faint fragrance. Essence was clear and had a thick gel consistency.
The sheet mask material felt slightly thick and stiff. The weave pattern of the fabric reminded me of bandage gauze. It was covered in essence but did not drip at all.
Fit was alright. The sheet was large enough to cover my entire face but I found the holes too small. The material was really disturbing my eyes, the cuts around the nose wasn’t deep enough so a giant nose tent formed, and my lips were covered my the mask. To address the problem, I took a scissors to the sheet and widened the nose and mouth holes. That felt more comfortable and even aided with the adherence.
Adherence was also alright. There were lifts due to the stiffness of the fabric. Still, it clung on pretty well and did not budge at all.
I took the mask off after 30 mins, it was still damp.
Step 3 consists of an eye cream. The opaque white cream had a thick texture and again, did not give off any scent. This type of texture is best applied to the eyes by spreading it over the area instead of patting it in. It forms a thick cream layer on the skin around my eyes like an eye mask. I think this is too thick for some people who are prone to milia seeds around the eye area. It’s also best for night use. A little goes a long way so the packet contains enough for about 3-4 uses.
The remaining sheet mask essence absorbed with ease. Finish was tacky and looked dewy at first. But it quickly dried down into a more balanced feel on my combo skin.
My skin felt appropriately hydrated and slightly moisturized. My combo skin only required a gel moisturizer. Oily skin might find this suitable for their skin. Dry skin might find the moisturization insufficient.
The greatest improvement was to the plumpness of my skin. Fine lines and pores were less obvious, giving way to a smooth skin texture.
I also noticed my skin looking brighter and less red. PIH were looking less obvious too.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I am impressed with the results of this mask! It is also highly affordable for a multi-step mask and makes a good travel pack. But I prefer the More Than Green-Tox Cleanse Mask from the same brand. Check out more Jayjun reviews here.
