Balea Aqua Tuchmaske aims to restore instant freshness to tired, exhausted skin. It also aims to provide intensive and long-lasting moisture. All these in just 10 mins.
Balea is a German cosmetic brand owned by dm-drogerie markt (or simply dm), a popular chain of retail stores. Balea products are popular both in Germany and in other European countries due to their rare combination of quality and affordability.
Key ingredients and benefits:
Trace elements of sodium, magnesium, zinc, and manganese stimulate the metabolism of the skin cells
Algae extract provides intensive moisture and refreshes skin
Almond and haybutten kernel oil, rich in vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids, protect the skin from drying out
My skin is feeling dry today. There are no issues of sensitivity hence the amount of redness is lesser than usual. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I caught a strong perfume fragrance. Essence was clear and runny. There was no leftover essence in the packet after the mask was removed.
The cotton sheet felt thick and plush. It was completely soaked with essence but not quite as juicy as most other sheet masks.
Fit was alright. The overall size of the sheet was on the small side. There wasn’t enough material to cover my entire forehead nor cup my chin. I also found the eye holes a little too small, though I really liked the inclusion of eye flaps so that I have the option of nourishing my eyes should I choose to lay down for a rest.
Adherence was alright too. The thickness of the material prevented it from clinging on tightly. Nevertheless, the sheet stuck on despite having lots of lifts and air bubbles.
There was a slight tingle around my mouth area. It gradually subsided after 5 mins. I took the mask off after 25 mins, it was drying out.
There wasn’t any essence left on my skin to pat in. Finish was slightly greasy and looked dewy.
My skin felt more moisturized than hydrated. As such, I think this is more suitable for dry skin.
My also felt slightly plumper and looked slightly calmer.
Had I known this would garner such effects, I would’ve layered on more watery products prior to masking. My dehydration-prone combo skin requires more oil than water so this mask would perform better on my skin as a sealer.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
This mask performed underwhelmingly on my skin type, but I think dry skin will love this more. This brand is also not easily accessible in the states and are marked up due to import costs. A friend was kind enough to send me a variety of masks from this brand, I can’t wait to try them out!
