23 Years Old Seaweed Silky Mask contains innovative and fresh ingredients from the sea to hydrate skin and provide anti-aging benefits.
Key Ingredients & benefits:
Coptis Japonica Extract – A powerful antioxidant known for its skin calming and nourishing properties.
Algae Extract – A hydrating ingredient that provides anti-aging, as well as anti-inflammatory benefits while helping retain the moisture in your skin because of its high iodine, mineral, and antioxidant content.
Sea Water – Contains minerals to help strengthen the skin’s barrier, while also hydrating and soothing the skin.
My skin is feeling sensitive and even more prone to dehydration due to the colder temperatures. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I caught a moderate floral scent. The essence was green and had a slimy gel texture. There was nothing left in the packaging after I’ve retrieved the sheet mask.
The sheet was tinted green from the gel essence. It had a moderate thickness and felt soft and plushy. It did not come with a backing.
Fit was weird. Firstly, the nose hole was just a small slit. On my Asian nose, it was already causing a tent. People with taller noses might form an even larger tent. Also, with the tenting, material was pulled from the sides, causing the material to cover only the inner perimeter of my face. There was alot of material around the chin, so much so that my neck was getting a partial pampering. The inclusion of eye flaps were a bonus.
Adherence was above average. It clung on very well but the edges lifted after 5 mins due to the weird fit. The material around my mouth and chin area were in abundance, causing wrinkles and more lifts.
I had this on for almost an hour, it was still damp. I could probably hold out for another hour but I had errands to run.
The remaining essence absorbed with moderate ease, leaving behind a non-tacky and silky-looking finish.
All the effects that I normally look for – hydration, moisturization, calming, brightening, smoothing, and plumping – were just average. There was nothing that stood out to me, except maybe my moderately hydrated lips, which was a huge plus compared to other masks with mouth holes.
I followed up with a calming serum and a moisturizer to give my skin an extra boost.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
For the price point, I’m not too disappointed with the effects. Especially since it did one thing that most other sheet masks cannot, hydrate both my skin and lips at the same time. Then again, the brand also makes other mouthless masks that performed much better, on me at least. Check out more 23 Years Old reviews here.
