Review: Lovemore Cubilose Extract Hydrating and Firming Mask Sheet ★★★.☆
Lovemore Cubilose Extract Hydrating and Firming Mask Sheet contains Bird’s Nest Extract for anti-aging effects. Bird’s Nest are bracket-shaped white nest, made entirely of hardened Swiflets’ saliva. It contains water soluble proteins, carbohydrates, mineral and trace mineral elements, amino acids and nutri-collagen to deeply nourish skin, reduces dullness and restore luminosity. It also contains Epidermic Growth Factors which directly promotes cell division, regeneration and repair.
Key ingredients and benefits:
Cubilose Extract aka Bird’s Nest is full of proteins for regeneration, rejuvenation and repair, leaving you with smaller pores, firmer skin, and less lines
Royal Jelly benefits the skin’s appearance by bonding with collagen, which is the building block of healthy skin, to maintain skin elasticity
Pyracantha Fortuneana Fruit Extract is naturally derived from a shrub and utilized for its gentle action against pigmentation
My skin is extra sensitive and red today. Sebum-wise, it’s feeling like normal skin with the usual slight dehydration. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Upon opening the packet, I did not detect any scent. Essence was clear, runny, and slightly slimy.
The 100% natural silk material contains 18 kinds of amino acids, and is gentle and non-irritable. It was so light and thin that it had to come sandwiched between a perforated plastic backing and a thick fabric backing. The trick to applying such a hard-to-handle material is to remove the plastic backing, then place the mask side on the face, then peel off the fabric backing from the outside. The fabric backing helped the mask to retain its shape without flopping around too much during application.
Fit and adherence were great, largely thanks to the thinness and softness of the silk material. The sheet was also so large that it touched my top hairline, had excess on the sides, as well as completely cupped my chin. However, the mouth hole was just a slit and I found that really small and uncomfortable as the essence tended to drip into my mouth. There was a moderately strong tingle around my mouth area 10 mins into using this mask. But I decided to power through it.
I had the mask on for 30 mins, it was starting to show white patches and dry out.
The leftover essence absorbed into my skin with ease. Finish was non-tack and looked matte.
My skin felt very hydrated but not moisturized. This will not be sufficient for dry skin but will be a suitable one for oily skin in the day. I layered a gel moisturizer on my combo skin post-masking and that felt perfect.
The greatest improvement I saw was to the suppleness and bounciness of my skin. It was such a delight to touch and poke my cheeks, as if water was going to burst out of them. My skin was so plump that my skin texture looked smoother with smaller pores and lesser fine lines.
My skin tone also looked temporarily brighter. Redness, however, had only mildly subsided. I was satisfied not to have my redness amplified due to the stinging sensation.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I love the short ingredients list and the amazing effects of this mask but I don’t condone using products with Bird’s Nest in it. Bird’s nests are becoming big business for the soup and cosmetic industries and the environmental impact is great. Swiflet population is gradually becoming threatened and I don’t want any part of it.
