My skin is extra sensitive and red today. Sebum-wise, it’s feeling like normal skin with the usual slight dehydration. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.

Sweet Chef Kale + Vitamin B Fresh Pressed Sheet Mask
Material

Out of the packet, I caught a faint herbal scent. The essence was milky and rather thick, but not quite creamy.

The mask material felt thick yet plush and soft. It felt like a blend of cotton and microfiber. It did not come with a backing but there were cute prints on it.

During masking

Fit and adherence were average. The sheet was alot longer than it was wide. It did not entirely cover the sides of my face but did stretch from my hairline to the underside of my chin. The positioning of the holes were shifted downwards as well. Hence, the mouth hole was below where my mouth should be despite pushing the material upwards. There were lifts and around bubbles at the edges as well as along fold lines.

I took the mask off after 30 mins, it was slightly damp.

After masking

The remaining essence took awhile to absorb and dry down. Finish was tacky and looked dewy.

My skin felt intensely hydrated and moisturized. It was a little on the heavy side so I was able to skip applying moisturizer. I don’t think oily skin will like this very much but I think dry skin will enjoy how emollient this was.

The greatest improvement was the hydration levels of my skin. It felt like I’d applied a thick layer of cream. I was able to go an entire day without any dryness or flakiness.

My skin also looked alot calmer. For a mask that claims to soothe skin, I’d say I was slightly disappointed since it did entirely eliminate my redness.

The other factors that I normally look for – plumpness, brightening, pore blurring – had moderate improvements.

Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed with this mask. Hydration levels performed really well but it was lacking in the other areas. I guess I just had really high expectations considering this was a brand developed by Glowrecipe, which always delivered high-performing products. Check out more Sweet Chef reviews here
