Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Scrub

Review: Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Scrub ★★★★.☆

Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Scrub

I’ve been a huge fan of Skinfood’s Black Sugar Scrub and have been using it for many years now. Since Skinfood announced its going out of business, I’ve been looking for a replacement. I was so glad to receive this in the February #sophiebeautybox. This is a physical exfoliant with natural moisturizers including black sugar, shea butter, and cranberry oil to smooth the skin. The granular sugar bits are there to polish off crusty dead skin and restore glow.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Black Strap Powder, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Petrolatum, Glycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Candelilla Wax Esters, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Polysorbate 20, Microcrystalline Wax, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Powder, Fragrance, Carapa Guaianensis Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil

Like Skinfood’s, Klairs Black Sugar Scrub sports a deep amber color and has a thick texture. Unlike Skinfood’s, the granules in this scrub are slightly finer and dissolves much quicker in my opinion. This is great news for my sensitive and compromised skin barrier. I’ve tried mixing it with cleansing oil, as recommended by the brand for sensitive skin, and I found that I was able to enhance the performance of both the oil and the scrub without irritating my skin. The addition of any liquid makes the product smoother and less harsh.

I always get soft and smooth baby skin every time I use this on a weekly basis. I also like using this twice a week on my lips to make my pout more kissable. It does contain fragrance but my skin did not react to it. I think I actually like this better than Skinfood’s, which I’ve been using for years.
