Benton Mega Review

Benton is one of the very first brand I tried when I stepped into the amazing world of Asian Beauty years ago. Their focus on non-irritating formulae and affordability make the products easy to pick up for beginners and highly-raved by seasoned skincare lovers.

8 months ago, Benton came under fire for using EURO-NApre, a naturally preservative, in their products. According to the scientist who announced their findings, EURO-NApre contains extremely high levels of some sort of silver/cyanide compound that is not allowed in most cosmetics. Soon after, original scientist redacted his statement, saying he tested similar but not the exact ingredients.

I have been using Benton’s product for many years and have had nothing but positive results. Snail mucin, aloe, propolis, saved my skin from irritation and kept my skin barrier strong. Imagine my excitement when I got approved to review this giant box of goodies from Stylekorean!

Benton Honest Cleansing Foam

Aqua (Water), Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Lauric Acid, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Sorbitan Olivate, Polyquaternium-10, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Althaea Rosea Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Propanediol, Hydrolyzed Pea Protein, Phytosterols, Lecithin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Squalane, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ceramide NP, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Parfum

The cleansing foam is formulated with natural extracts such as palm oil-derived surfactants, camellia japonica seed oil, ceramide NP, squalene, shea butter, and centella asiatica extract.

As someone with sensitive skin starting on tretinoin, I try to only use cleansers with a low pH level, preferably around 4 – 5.5. This cleanser came out to be an 8, so it is a slightly alkaline cleaner. I find that a green bean sized amount is sufficient for removing sebum and cleansing my skin after a full face of makeup. The pearly cream texture lathers luxuriously and is enjoyable to use but not daily for my skin or it will feel dry and stretchy.

Aloe BHA Skin Toner

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, lycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Beta-Glucan, Polyglutamic Acid, Aspalathus Linearis Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Salicylic Acid, Althaea Rosea Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Arginine, Pentylene Glycol, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Polysorbate 20, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Xanthan Gum

This is a daily exfoliating toner that contains mild concentrations of salicylic acid to keep blackheads and acne under control. Other featured ingredients are aloe leaf water, snail secretion filtrate, and beta-glucan.

This is a unique product to me as I’ve only used daily exfoliating toners that contain AHAs or a combination of AHA and BHA but never just BHA by itself. As someone prone to damaged skin barrier, I find the use of AHAs too harsh on my skin and prefer BHAs for pore management. So needless to elaborate, this toner is perfect for me!

I particularly enjoyed the gooey texture of this toner on my tender skin. It gave a soothing effect then completely absorbed into my skin without stickiness. After 2 weeks of nightly use, I noticed my nose looking less like a strawberry.

This is one of my favorite products in the whole entire Benton catalogue. This essence contains 13% snail secretion filtrate, bee venom, niacinamide, and adenosine to brighten and hydrate dry damaged skin.

The airless pump dispenses just the right amount of lightweight, watery-gel product which my skin drinks up. With a pH level of around 5.5, it is suitable for all skin types. After 2 weeks of twice daily use, my skin appears plumper and healthier. I’ve gone through a couple bottles of this in the past and it still excites me.

Fermentation Eye Cream

Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Pentylene Glycol, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Ceramide NP, Althaea Rosea Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Sorbitan Olivate, Sorbitan Stearate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Betaine, Beta-Glucan, Panthenol, sh-Oligopeptide-1, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Adenosine, Polysorbate 20, Lecithin

This eye cream contains fermented ingredients like Bifida ferment lysate and galactomyces ferment filtrate to hydrate and brighten tired-looking eyes.

I don’t care what anyone says, eye creams have always worked for me and I’m going to keep using it. This cool-looking black tube is perfect for dispensing just a teeny tiny amount of product. The cream has a thick, balmy texture that hydrates and spreads easily. The skin around my eyes absorbs half of it with the other half of the product staying behind to provide a thin layer of protection to keep the skin hydrated. I really like having this under a concealer as makes my fine lines less obvious. It’s a great product for all skin types and in both day and night routines.

Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Aqua (Water), Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycerin, Propolis Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Betaine, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine

This product contains aloe and propolis that help soothe irritated skin, fade acne scars, brighten skin tone, and even maintain hydration throughout the day. This gel moisturizer is also fragrance free!

As an oily skin person, gel moisturizer is my best friend. This clear, lightweight gel works well for hydrating oily skin, keeping irritation at bay, and does not add extra heaviness under a hydrating sunscreen. I enjoy applying this right out of the fridge, especially on hot days. However, I do not recommend using this at night as it absorbs far too quickly, leaving behind no residue at all. Hence there isn’t sufficient protection against the colder and drier night air.

This cream features snail secretion filtrate, niacinamide, and bee venom to brighten, plump, and intensely moisturize skin. Steam creams are blended using high temperatures and steam technology, which increases the efficacy of the formula.

Due to the thicker and denser consistency, I tend to use as a sleeping mask to seal in hydration and protect my skin from losing moisture to the cold night air. On its own, it is very moisturizing and a little goes a long way. I find that this helped tremendously with dry patches and is thus more suitable for dry skin type.
