Patchology Exfoliate FlashMasque Facial Sheets

Review: Patchology Exfoliate FlashMasque Facial Sheets ★★★☆☆

My skin texture is feeling very bumpy and rough today so I thought this is a good time to give the Patchology Exfoliate FlashMasque Facial Sheets a try. This is part of Ipsy Maskerade set which is now sold out. However, you can still get it from the Patchology website at $30 for 4.

This mask claims to dissolve dead skin cells using lactic acid and papain, and deliver hydration within 5 minutes. Way faster than regular sheet masks. It also claims to be ideal for skin with rough, uneven texture and a drab appearance.

Before masking

Since this is an exfoliating mask, I did not exfoliate my skin prior to slapping this on, like I normally would. But if you’re curious, you can read about how I prep my skin for masking here.

Mask material

This mask is made of a light cotton material. It wasn’t dripping with essence when I took it out of the bag. There is a very strong perfume fragrance which I did not like. Sensitive skin people beware.

I had to cut additional slits at the temples and chin area but it was really easy to get a good fit, way easier than most sheet masks. Notice the material at the mustache area is too long for me, again.

It was recommended to leave this on for 5 minutes but 10 minutes in, it was still pretty wet and the scent is still going strong. I didn’t want to waste it so I left it on for 20 minutes when it started to tingle. Not sure if the sensitivity was due to the lactic acid or the fragrance. It was still pretty wet when I removed it.

After masking

My skin revealed a couple of red itchy patches but nothing too major, it went away in about 30 minutes. Those patches weren’t there before. As I was massaging the rest of the essence in, my skin felt just slightly softer and smoother. I could still feel the bumps albeit no longer as rough. The redness around my cheeks has been brought down slightly. Here is a side by side of the before and after for comparison.

I probably shouldn’t have left it on for 20 minutes when the recommended duration is 5 minutes. This might be the reason for the sensitivity on my skin. Because of these red patches, I don’t think I would walk out of the house looking like this, plus the sun’s rays might make them worse. My skin did feel very hydrated though. But I don’t think I would repurchase this as there is a less harsh and more effective way of exfoliating my skin. This is more suitable for people who do not have the time to exfoliate and moisturize within 5 minutes and also do not have sensitive skin.

Go be beautiful!
