Laneige Water Bank Soothing Gel Mask

Review: Laneige Water Bank Soothing Gel Mask ★★★★☆

I love Laneige products! I went through countless tubs of their Water Sleeping Mask, Water Bank Cream, and Pore Control BB Cushion Foundation. But I’ve never tried their single use mask so I’m pretty excited to do this review and demo!

It claims to be suitable for all skin types, and hydrate and sooth the skin. It contains herbal extracts (which is always a win) and glycerin for moisture.

Before masking

Here’s the usual mandatory mugshot of my before face. Skin is slightly dry and dull. I’m also experiencing some water retention hence the overall puffiness. As usual I’ve already prepped my face for masking.

Material

Like the packaging mentioned, the mask is made of hydrogel material. What sets it apart is the fact that it came in 2 pieces, top and bottom, separated at the nostrils line. When I pulled it out of the packet, it is not dripping with essence yet the gels are nicely soaked and giving off Laneige’s signature light floral fragrance. The gels are sandwiched between 2 plastic sheets that need to be peeled off. These slippery gels have a rough side and a smooth side. The smooth side shoud go on the skin for better adherence and absorption.

Great fit

When placed on the face, both pieces fit and stick well, best of all, there is no need to cut slits for it to fit my facial contours. Looks like a one-size-fits-all mask. However, the fragrance lingered the entire time. I don’t mind since it is pretty decent but some people may not prefer it.

After masking

I had it on for 30 minutes, which is the recommended duration. After massaging in the remaining essence and topping it off with a light moisturizer, my skin looks smoother and plumper. Pore size is also visibly reduced and the water rentention has also been reduced slightly. My skin also felt nicely hydrated, not overly sticky like some other hydration masks can get. The light fragrance went away very quickly. Here is a side by side for comparison.

Wow I just realized I look so much wider awake! I will definitely go out without makeup on, it made my skin look so healthy. Even though it’s on the slightly pricey side, I think it is worth investing in it since you can basically use it once a week for maintenance. Check out more Laneige reviews here.
