After suffering through an ordeal from testing out a product that traumatized my skin, I decided to slap on my good ol’ reliable Tsaio Chamomile Licorice Skin Soothing Mask Sheet.
Tsaio is a Taiwanese brand that specializes in making sheet masks with herbal ingredients. This particular version claims to soothe and calm irritated skin. It contains chamomile and licorice root extract which aids in hydration and anti-inflammation. Beauteque carries it for $1.99 a piece or $11.99 for a box of 10 on Amazon. The usual before masking mugshot. Skin is slightly red, irritated and dry. I’ve already prepped my skin with a toner.
Cottony sheet mask came out of the packet soaking wet with watery essence and also a plastic backing. There is a light fragrance and surprisingly there is no licorice scent.
It unfolds and went on pretty easily although the fold lines are there no matter how much I tried to smooth it out. These one-size-fits-all masks usually never adhere to my facial contours seamlessly so I cut some slits in the regular places for a better fit.
I had this one for about 20 minutes and there is still some essence leftover on my skin, which I patted in. My skin felt very well hydrated and soothed, redness and any itchy feeling is also gone. There is also a glow to my skin and pore size has been reduced. Since it was very hydrating, I did not top it off with a moisturizer.
The only thing I didn’t like about this mask is that it leaves behind “wrinkles” from where the sheet mask fold lines are. It’s not a big deal because it went away pretty quickly.
Here is a side by side comparison of the before and after.
I’ve used this mask multiple times in the past and I’ve always been very impressed by the quality and the price. Some people have commented that these cheap Taiwanese masks are just soaked notebook papers but I beg to differ because I’ve tried it for myself and seen the difference it can make. It made my skin feel very healthy and balanced. I highly recommend this!
