Scinic Snail Matrix Essence Mask

Review: Scinic Snail Matrix Essence Mask ★★☆☆☆

When skincare products started containing snail essence, we were all pretty freaked out. What?! Put that yucky slime on my face? How about no. However, it contains lots of skin-loving benefits like hydration and protection.

Scinic Snail Matrix Essence Mask is available on Beauteque for $1.99 per piece or $14.99 for a 5-pack on Amazon. Pretty good price. This low-irritant mask made of breathable 0.2mm air sheet claims to provide hydration and fight signs of aging.

Before masking

My skin went cray this morning. Aside from the sensitivity flare up on my eyelids which has been going on for a week now, my cheeks close to the mouth area have areas that are irritated, red, dry, and itchy. I suspect it’s due to the change in weather as well as age.

Upon pulling the sheet mask out of the pack, I detected a very slight soapy clean scent. The sheet was adequately soaked but not dripping, there is hardly any essence left in the pack. The essence itself does not feel extra slimy, just goopy like any other sheet mask essence. The material is pretty thin for a cotton mask.

I was impressed with the fit. It unfolded easily but it the eye holes are way too narrow and the entire mask was wider than it is tall. So parts of my forehead was uncovered while there is excess flapping next to my ears. It was also hard to look down as I would get jabbed in the eye balls by the edge of the eye hole since it is so close to my eye. The sheet mask clung on to my skin pretty well.

After masking

5 minutes in and I noticed a slight tingle, I held it out till the recommended 20 minutes. Upon removing the sheet mask, there is a thin layer of essence left on my skin. I patted it in and finished off with a light moisturizer. It hydrated my skin well but not well enough to my desired level. I could still see some redness on my skin. Here is a side by side of the before and after pictures for comparison.

Overall, I think it was an okay mask. It did deliver what it claimed, however, not well. Scinic makes lots of other masks that exceeds the performance of this particular one, at around the same price point. I will not repurchase nor recommend this.

Go be beautiful!

Love,
Elaine
