Review: Papa Recipe Honey Butter Cream Mask Pack ★★★☆☆

This is the latest addition to the bombee honey mask family. Their black honey variant is my HG so I have high hopes for this. Packaging is super cute as always, featuring a honey pot. Find more reviews on Papa Recipe masks here.

This mask claims to hydrate dry, parched skin and restore radiance with ingredients like squalene, royal jelly extract, propolis extract, shea butter, mango seed butter, cocoa butter, licorice root extract, ginger root extract, camellia sinensis, and grapefruit seed extract. Unlike past variants, this is a 2-piece cotton mask with creamy buttery essence.

Before masking

My skin is feeling pretty good today, just slightly dry. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.

Out of the packet, it gave off a delicious honey malt scent. Thick cotton sheets were coated, not soaked, with the buttery essence, and came sandwiched between 2 plastic backings. The sheet resembled a thick net, weaved in a way that had lots of tiny holes in the fabric.

Creamy essence

There was hardly any essence left in the packaging. This was all I could get out of the packaging.

During masking

Fit was great since I was able to adjust the top and bottom pieces according to my facial structure. However, adherence was disappointing. Just a couple minutes in and air bubbles starting forming.

Notice the giant air bubble on my nose, and tiny ones on my forehead and chin.

At this point, I am sporting a full goatee. Still a little reluctant to take it off because of the delicious scent, but it starting to dry out anyway.

After masking

Massaging the remaining essence into my skin felt like I was applying a light lotion. Unlike other creamy masks that felt too thick and stifling, this buttery essence actually absorbed into my skin, leaving a silky finish. Brightening and redness reduction was moderate but my skin felt extremely hydrated. Flakiness completely gone. It gave me a slight blurring effect overall.

Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.

This is very suitable for night time use and dry skin types. Will repurchase for the dry season. Check out more Papa Recipe reviews here.
