This mask claims to brighten and hydrate with colloidal gold (0.4ppm) and hydrolyzed collagen (0.2%). According to Skin18’s website, colloidal gold promotes human metabolism and skin cell activity, keeping tired skin caused by daily stresses healthy and bright. The research behind the benefits of gold in skincare is rather ambiguous, nevertheless it’s very pretty to look at and give a touch of luxury.
My skin is experiencing alot of sensitivity today. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Out of the packet, I detected a perfumey fragrance. The sheet felt very thick and stiff. Essence was clear and watery, but not drippy.
Fit was okay, the sides were too wide but it was a little challenging to adjust due to the stiffness of the material. I love the little slit on the nose bridge, it gives me a tad more flexibility. Eye flaps are always a bonus as I get to choose if I want it up or down. Adherence was meh, there were air pockets 20 mins in and the material around my chin was already hanging loose. I had this on for 35 mins.
What little essence left on my skin absorbed right away without much massaging. My skin felt moderately hydrated and looked moderately brighter and less red. The hydration wasn’t sufficient for my skin though, so I topped it off with a hydrating sunscreen and it was perfect. Finish was silky then matte in about 15 mins. There were still fold lines on my skin, left behind by the stiff material.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
This is a great summer/day time mask! I was pleasantly surprised! Highly likely I will repurchase due to the effects and low price point.
