Repiel Perfect Fit Mask – Soothing is a paraben and mineral oil free mask that claims to soothe and calm sensitive skin. It contains ingredients like calendula and chamomile extracts that are effective for calming irritated skin. It can also revitalize exhausted skin with arnica extract and keep skin healthy by nourishing and increasing skin’s ability to retain moisture. Selastin, a compound of 4 marine plants (fusiformis, Ecklonia cava, Gelidium amansii, codium), moisturizes dry skin and strengthens skin barrier.
The congestion in my skin has slowly loosened up, but those products do not sit well with my skin and cause it to be dry and irritated. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
The 4th generation nude bio-cellulose sheet came sandwiched between 2 mesh backings, which helped to keep it’s shape form.
Essence was a clear thick gel and was in abundance, 25ml to be exact. It was giving off a strong perfumey fragrance, which I’m not a big fan of.
Peeling away both mesh backings, the bio-cellulose sheet felt thinner than most bio-cellulose sheets I’ve tried. A little background info:
Different from other cheap mask sheets, Repiel’s bio-cellulose mask sheet is created through a natural microorganism fermentation process of coconut water which is thus very skin friendly, natural, and soft. It is able to give a cooling effect (around -6˚C) to the skin and thus minimizing pores.
The double backings really helped with application, I was able to get a good fit with ease. The sheet was showing slight excess on both sides of my face, yet not long enough to cover my entire forehead. Still, I think this would fit most face shapes. My only real complain was how low the mouth hole was positioned.
Adherence was great as with most bio-cellulose sheets. It was clinging on like second skin for the entire 30 mins. The material still felt damp. For some reason, it felt a little stifling to wear halfway through. I took the mask off after 30 mins.
There was little essence left to pat in. My skin felt extremely hydrated, the kind that allows me to skip moisturizer. It left behind a dewy sheen and a hydrating film, which may feel uncomfortable to some but I really liked it! Redness was reduced but not completely gone. I did not see any brightening effect but I do see a huge reduction in my pore size.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I had a great experience with this mask overall! I highly recommend this for cold days when skin could easily get wind beaten and also on days when you’ve just done a full face of extractions.
