Review: AM Piggy Head Sun Moon Lake Black Tea Instant Repairing Mask ★★★★☆
AM Piggy Head Sun Moon Lake Black Tea Instant Repairing Mask contains soothing ingredients to help repair sensitive, irritated, and dehydrated skin. Information on these masks are scare since they’re pretty unheard of. Nevertheless, I was drawn in by the adorable illustrations on them!
Lavender extract – an anti-inflammatoryand soothing herb
Chamomile extract – anti-inflammatory flower that repairs the skin and aids in conditioning and strengthening the skin barrier
I was amazed at how short the ingredients list looks but also annoyed at the inclusion of potentially sensitizing ingredients such as carbomer, methylparaben, and fragrance listed so high up. At a glance, this mask looked like a potential disaster on sensitive skin. For the most part they don’t irritate the skin because believe it or not, it is more dangerous for a skincare product to be absent of a preservative. So this is just a caution to those who know for sure that their skin are intolerant to these ingredients.
My skin is feeling slightly dry and slightly irritated today. I’ve cleansed my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
If you’ve tried the newer versions of My Beauty Diary masks, the material of this mask was just like it. Thin, soft, and came with a perforated plastic backing to hold its shape. It was completely drenched in clear and slightly runny essence, I experienced a couple of drips while trying to put the mask on. I was surprised to detect a very faint scent despite fragrance being listed in the middle.
Fit was great! The softness of the material and the multiple deep cuts made it really easy to manipulate. It was also a large enough sheet to cover my entire face. The holes were perfectly lined up with my features too.
Adherence was also amazing, again, thanks to the softness of the material. It clung on for the entire 30 mins. I did re-wet the mask with the leftover essence in the packet at the 15 min mark as it was showing signs drying at the edges.
There were lots of essence left to pat in. It absorbed with ease and left a matte and non-tacky finish. My skin felt moderately hydrated and looked amazing! The pictures don’t do justice to the mask. My skin looked radiant, even-toned, and poreless. There was still some redness left but for the most part, I was satisfied. I did not experience any sensitivities even though potentially sensitizing ingredients were listed pretty high up.
I did follow up with a hydrating essence and a moisturizer since the mask did not provide me with sufficient moisture. My skin tends to get drier in the winter.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
This is a great day time mask and suitable for all skin types especially oily skin. Sensitive skin types should still be wary. Please check if you are allergic to any of the ingredients before slapping a mask on your face. Check out more AM Piggy Head reviews here.
