Review: Nature Republic Real Nature Chamomile Hydrogel Mask ★★★☆☆
Nature Republic Real Nature Chamomile Hydrogel Mask is a soothing hydrogel mask for sensitive or acne-prone skin. Chamomile (1,000 ppm) is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic while considered to be hypoallergenic with the ability to neutralize skin irritants. Small molecule hyaluronic acid carries nutrition deep into skin, and large molecule hyaluronic acid protects the surface of skin and retains moisture.
My skin is feeling dry and very irritated. I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
The hydrogel pieces came sandwiched between a thick plastic backing and a thin paper film. It was a little challenging to unfold and handle the pieces due to the slippery and somewhat slimey essence. It was giving off a mild floral fragrance.
The hydrogel mask came in 2 pieces for the top and bottom of the face. Both sides of the material felt very similar but upon closer inspection, I noticed that one side was slightly more textured than the other. I placed the smoother side on my skin to maximize the skin smoothing effects.
Fit was great! The pieces were large enough to cover my entire face with some excess on the sides. The nose flap was a little too large but I’ll prefer this over having insufficient material in that area. The advantage of having a sheet mask in 2 pieces is the ability to customize fit.
Adherence was great as well. The hydrogel pieces stayed put even though I was doing chores while masking.
I took the mask off after 25 mins, it was still slightly damp.
There was hardly any essence left to pat in. Finish was slightly tacky and looked silky.
My skin felt moderately hydrated, making this mask very suitable for oily skin types or hot days. My dehydrated skin required a moisturizer to seal everything in and prevent trans-epidermal moisture loss. The most improvement I saw was the complete eradication of redness. My skin felt calm and relieved. I also noticed a slight brightening effect, but no change to pore size or skin texture.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
This is a pretty average mask with a decent price point. Nothing really stood out except its ability to calm redness. As there are better masks out there that provide more hydration along with better calming and brightening effects, I’d pass on repurchasing. Check out more Nature Republic reviews here.
