Review: Lovemore Yurong Scattered Amazing White Mask Sheet ★★★.☆
Filled with powerful skin-boosting Chinese medicinal herbs, Lovemore Yurong Scattered Amazing White Mask Sheet aims to revitalize tired, aging skin. It boasts a special blend of classic Chinese herbs traditionally used by the empresses of ancient China.
Astragalus aka Huang Qi is a classic Chinese herb that fights sallow complexions and water retention
Cimicifuga Racemosa Root aka Sheng Ma is traditionally used to clear toxic heat, a Chinese medicine symptom that manifests itself as acne and rosacea
Bletilla Striata Root aka Bai Ji promotes tissue regeneration and toxin expulsion in skin cells
Coix Lacryma aka Job’s Tears effectively brightens skin and is rich in skin-nourishing proteins and amino acids
Orchid Extract is an astringent natural plant extract full of antioxidants that fight free radicals and aging
This mask contains DMD hydantoin as a preservative and antimicrobial agent. It increases the shelf-life of cosmetics (e.g. shampoos, skincare products, hair gels, etc) by “releasing” formaldehyde and thus killing bacteria. This keeps cosmetics sanitary, and prevents illness due to infections. DMDM hydantoin’s hazard level is listed at moderate/high. I’ve not come across anyone who has had issues with this ingredient aside from myself. At that time when it turned my skin red hot, I was also suffering from a bout of eczema and dermatitis. Now that my skin has returned to a healthy state, it no longer exhibit any negative aide effects.
My skin is feeling normal to oily, sebum production wise. It’s redder than usual but no sensitivity. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Upon opening the packet, I detected a faint scent. It was so faint it’s almost scentless. Not the oriental herbal scent I was expecting. Essence was clear and runny.
The 100% natural silk material contains 18 kinds of amino acids, and is gentle and non-irritable. It was so light and thin that it had to come sandwiched between a perforated plastic backing and a thick fabric backing. The trick to applying such a hard-to-handle material is to remove the plastic backing, then place the mask side on the face, then peel off the fabric backing from the outside. The fabric backing helped the mask to retain its shape without flopping around too much during application.
Fit and adherence were great, largely thanks to the thinness and softness of the silk material. The sheet was also so large that it touched my top hairline, had excess on the sides, as well as completely cupped my chin. However, the mouth hole was just a slit and I found that really small and uncomfortable as the essence tended to drip into my mouth. There was a mild tingle around my mouth area 10 mins into using this mask.
I had the mask on for 30 mins, it was starting to show white patches and dry out.
There was little to no essence left to pat in. Finish was matte and non-tacky.
My skin felt hydrated but only moderately moisturized. A moisturizer is definitely required on my combo skin, as well as people with dry skin. Oily skin will really enjoy the light finish and hydration of this mask.
Due to the tingling sensation, I was expecting my redness to be worse than it was prior to masking. Instead, most of my redness subsided, leaving only a minor flush. There was no brightening effect even though the name of this mask implied so. However, my skin tone did look clearer and more even.
The greatest improvement was to the texture of my skin. My skin looked and felt smooth and soft. Pores were visibly smaller and fine lines were plumped. What impressed me more was that the effect lasted an entire day.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
I do like the effects this mask gave me but I don’t find it worth the while to put up with the tingling sensation. If you do not have sensitive skin, this is worth checking out. But if you do, I recommend checking out the brand’s Herba Saussurea Involucrata Revival Mask Sheet instead. Check out more Lovemore reviews here.
