35 pieces of cotton pads came in a plastic squat jar with a purple lid. I appreciate the inner seal for hygiene and preserving the freshness of the product.

How to use:

  1. After cleansing your face, gently wipe your skin using the bumpy side of the pad, focusing on forehead and nose area.
  2. Wipe your skin again with the smooth side of the pad.
  3. Gently pat skin for better absorption.

Upon opening the jar, I caught a light pleasant scent. It doesn’t bother my sensitive nose. This is how it naturally smells like since fragrance was not added to the product.

For 35 pads, the stack seemed surprisingly tiny. This makes it really convenient for travel.

The pads were different from conventional pads because:

  1. it lacks furriness/fuzziness.
  2. it comes with a textured surface and a smooth surface.
  3. it has a light pink/purple tint.

Picking up a piece with either my fingers or a tweezer is really easy. The pads are soaked with essence but not drippy. They don’t stick to each other. It was thin and felt really soft, even on the textured side. Any physical exfoliation from the textured side is really minimal and gentle.

I find the size of the cotton rounds just a teensy bit too small. Since it does not come with a pocket for my fingers like peeling pads from other brands, material space is required for grabbing onto the pad. This reduces the surface area that actually touches my skin.

Nevertheless, it felt really gentle on my skin,. There is no tingle or stinging as some AHA products might cause. Hence I think this is a good product for acid beginners and sensitive skin, regardless of how much sebum you produce. Oily skin can benefit from the pore-clearing abilities while dry skin can benefit from the dead skin cell removal abilities.

I am an avid user of AHA and BHA and alternate between those 2 to keep my acne and congestion at bay. However, my sensitive skin reacts to them by being prone to redness. So I introduced this into my routine, between AHA and BHA, to give my skin small a break from exfoliation without letting my skin go completely. It goes AHA-peeling pads-BHA-peeling pads-AHA and so on.

Immediately, my skin feels softer and more hydrated without any residue. Subsequent products tend to absorb faster whenever I use this. Plus, there is zero wait time and I rejoice on days when I don’t have to have a 10 min break in between my skincare routine. Time is precious.

This is also great for traveling. I’m currently at my in-laws’ for the holidays but I don’t want to give my skin too huge of a break from acids. I also don’t want to lug around 2 bottles and a wad of cotton pads. So I just take this with me.

Now that I’ve incorporated this into my routine, I don’t see how I can survive without it anymore. It’s affordable and accessible so I’m definitely repurchasing. Check out more Papa Recipe reviews here.
