Review: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask Lavender ★★★★.☆
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is one of the first sleeping mask I know. It has grown into a signature must-try item of Korean Beauty and is available almost anywhere. It is also the only Korean beauty item that my non-skincare obsessed family and friends know and love.
Unlike a regular mask, a sleeping mask recharges the skin overnight. It is packed with concentrated ingredients to protect and hydrate the skin while you sleep.
Various Laneige-exclusive technologies promote skin restoration:
Sleep-Tox ™ purifies fatigued and stressed skin.
Beta-glucan Moisture Wrap™ consisting of hydro ion mineral water, evening primrose extract, and apricot extract seals in moisture.
Sleepscent™ releases a therapeutic aroma that helps you relax so your skin can regenerate more efficiently.
The product had so much success that a lavender-scented one is added to the line. I’ve tried both and I seem to prefer this lavender version. It makes sense to include a lavender version since its aroma has the ability to soothe and encourage relaxation.
70 ml of product came in a purple plastic squat jar. An inner seal keeps the product fresh and hygienic. Upon removing the seal, I could smell the mild lavender scent. Since lavender wasn’t on the ingredients list, I presumed that it came in the added fragrance. Hence, the lavender marketed on this product is for its aroma only.
How to use:
After washing your face at night, apply toner, essence, and/or emulsion. Then, apply an adequate amount of the sleeping mask. Gently spread and blend in the direction of skin texture, starting from the inside of the face and working outward. Without rinsing, let the mask absorb overnight. Wash off the mask the next morning.
The sleeping mask came in the form of a white opaque gel.
It felt creamy and thick at first but spreads out like a gel. It’s lightweight, spreads easily, and is buildable. It absorbs relatively easily while forming a thin, non-tacky protective layer over my skin.
This has been a lifesaver this winter, where a skincare routine that ends with a moisturizer is no longer sufficient. The scent relaxes my mind and puts me to sleep easier. I wake up with hydrated and supple skin. Not to mention clean pillows too.
I’ve tried Laneige’s original sleeping mask in the past and I can say that I like this lavender-scented one better, mainly due to its scent. I don’t think there’s a difference when it comes to the function and results. This is a close second to my favorite sleeping mask of all time, the Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask Ex. Its no wonder this product is such a classic. Check out more Laneige reviews here.
