Before masking

My skin is feeling pretty normal today. There is the usual redness and slight dehydration. I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.

Dearpacker Royal Black Tea & Black Rose Mask

50ml of gel mask came in a plastic, squat jar inside a cardboard box. The packaging is absolutely beautiful and insta-worthy!

A squat jar is not my number 1 preference for a gel wash-off, but it can be kept clean and hygienic with a spatula. I’d prefer a soft plastic squeeze tube for a mask like that. It is hygienic and keeps the product fresh longer by reducing contact with the outside air.

Upon peeling off the inner seal, I caught a moderate rose scent. Compared to Fresh Rose Mask, this has slightly more of a minty scent.

The gel mask has a viscous consistency and a very slow flow speed. It is amber with chamomile bits suspended in it. The bits felt very soft and gave almost no abrasive effect.

During masking

The gel mask spreads easily and was very buildable. I was able to slather on a thick layer in no time.

My skin felt cool during the wait time. It had a minty scent but did not feel minty or tingly at all.

The recommended wait time is 10-15 mins and I maxed it out. The mask still felt damp. I gently scraped off the excess mask with the included spatula and proceeded to rinse off the mask.

After masking

After drying off, my skin felt only a slight bit softer and smoother. But it also felt hydrated and not tight, like I’ve patted in 2 light layers of toner.

My skin looked very bright and very calm, there wasn’t any redness left. My skin texture also looked very smooth and even. Fine lines were plumped and pore size was smaller.

This felt gentle enough for all skin types and daily use. I personally prefer to use this in the shower to save time and for reducing the mess during rinse-off. Plus, it looks so pretty among all my dull shower bottles.

Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.

This mask performed way better than I’d expected! My only qualm is the amount of product that comes in the jar. By using a thick layer, I estimate it to give me around 8 uses, which is about $2.50 per use. That’s borderline pricey for a wash-off mask that stays on my skin for 15 mins. Nevertheless, the effects were awesome and the container was gorgeous so I might just repurchase once I’m out. Check out more Dearpacker reviews here.
